It feels like christmas to be guided through a yoga class early in the morning like this. I have butterflies in my stomach. I could hardly fall asleep yesterday – just like when I was a kid, the night before christmas. And I have been running back and forth to the bathroom all night! Just like when I was a kid and I knew that Santa was on his way. Right now I feel just as jittery and eager to roll out my yoga mat and follow your guidance in my yoga practice that gives me serenity and harmony the rest of the day. Imagine to be able to enjoy christmas every week!

These wonderful words came from my friend, colleague and yogi Ingrid Hauggaard one early morning yoga class. Ingrid describes so beautifully the jittery, expectant and joyful feeling that is transformed through the body and mind into a depth, calm and an ease that facilitates the rest of the day.

Yoga is for everybody. Despite gender, age, ethnicity. We are all alike in our beautiful individual expression when we roll out our mats and enter our yoga practice.

What is yoga then? Yoga stands for union. Union between opposites that you encounter. Body and mind, Thoughts and emotions. Your eternal and inner self. Left and right. Up and down. Joy and sorrow…or why not joy and anger? All is welcome on the yoga mat.

When started my yoga practice, just about 10 years ago, I primarily thought that the poses would make me flexible and graceful, maybe somewhat strong as well. However, Yoga has proven to be som much more. It’s your breath. It’s the poses. It increases your awareness. Your patience can expand. And so much more, if you let it! In 2015 I will launch my own yoga teacher training course, Ayur Yoga, focusing on leading from the heart, in a union of Yoga and Ayurveda.

The yoga mat was where i started to find myself! My true self.
